Ship Early Ahead of December 15 Section 301 Tariffs

11/4/19

On December 15, 2019, there will be an additional tariff of 15% on $160 billion worth of Chinese products. The December tariffs cover most of the remaining products shipped to the United States from China, including, toys, clothes, smartphones, laptops and more. Ship early to avoid possible delays that result in additional duties and delivery deadline failures. Here are some of the factors that can impact Fall shipping schedules:
  • Canceled Vessels or Blank Sailings
  • Vessels transitioning to using low-Sulphur fuels (installing scrubbers) ahead of the International Maritime Organization regulations in January
  • Bad Weather in the Pacific during this time of year
  • Mechanical Issues
These potential factors that may affect shipping schedules are unexpected and unpredictable, therefore, it is important to plan ahead for potential challenges by allowing time for any unexpected delays. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to speak with your KRIEGER worldwide representative.
